Antique Halley's Comet Intaglio Fob Seal Pendant in 9k Gold, c. 1840

He was elected to the Royal society at the youthful age of 22. He was most well known for the comet that bears his name, but in truth he made great strides in archaeology, geophysics and math. Keep your eyes peeled, Halley’s comet will be back around again on July 28, 2061.

This antique early Victorian gold fob was handcrafted circa 1835. The oval intaglio chalcedony features a profile of the great British astronomer Edmond Halley, gazing at the Comet which bears his name. The stone is set in a 9 karat gold fob which has been carefully acid tested. It weighs 6.6 grams and measures 33.7 x 25.8 x 9.3 mm. A regal piece for a classic chain.

This is that 'out of this world' piece your jewelry box has been waiting for!
