Peridot is the only gemstone found in meteorites. Granted this particularly lovely bright olive green emerald-cut Peridot is most likely Earth-made, but I find it fascinating to think of all those big chunks of rock flying through the cosmos with these lovely green crystals along for the ride. Is is just coincidence that Kryptonite looks a little like Peridot? I think not.
This wonderful bright green peridot is the star of this sparkling ring. Hand crafted around 1910, this lovely and lively stone measures 7.5 x 7 x 3.2 mm and weighs about 1.25 carats. Overall the face of this ring measures 14 mm north to south and 10 mm across, and the shoulders are adorned with golden bows. This size 5.5 ring weighs 3.6 grams and is marked inside the band with ’18k’. I think that this lovely ring is American in origin.
