Antique Rose Cut Diamond Ring Silver on Gold

I’ve always heard that diamonds were the hardest thing on earth. So, when I found out that a diamond is 58 times harder than anything else on the planet, I swooned. This gem’s atomic octahedral arrangement attends to the sturdiness and durability of the stone, as well as the fact that it’s comprised of one element – carbon. The word, “diamond” originates from the Greek word, “adamas”, meaning “unbreakable”. The Greeks sure knew what they were talking about!

This gorgeous glittering antique diamond ring was handcrafted with an array of rose cut diamonds set in silver over 14 karat gold. It is unmarked and I’m not entirely certain as to the origin, but if I was to hazard a guess I’d say that it’s Dutch and certainly dates to about 1870 or so. This beautiful ring is a size 9 and it weighs 5 grams. It features a geometric round ring face that measures 18.3 x 19.5 x 3.3 mm off the finger. The band width is 5.8 mm at the back. It has been acid tested.

This wonderful ring is smothered in diamonds and ready to be worn, from day to night, from work to play, take this statement bauble with you.
