Antique Scottish Agate Bracelet Silver Victorian

$ 1,800.00

Though Scottish jewelry goes back centuries, the fascination for all things Scottish in England goes back to Victorian times. When the Royal court would pick itself up a few times a year and travel north to Barmoral Castle in the Scottish highlands. When you were at court in Barmoral you were expected to play your part and dress in plaids and wools, and to adorn yourself with jewels made in the Scottish tradition and set with gems mined from the Scottish coasts.

This wonderful bracelet was no doubt made in England, most likely in the Victorian jewelry center of Birmingham, it’s got such a Victorian look in the links that go around the wrist, taken straight from a Victorian collar of the day. The top stone is wonderfully carved smooth with ruffled edges and a convex top that delights the fingers. The bracelet is about 7.25 inches long, it’s hard to get an exact measurement due to the nature of the top of the bracelet, but this arch of set stones at the top makes it marvelous to wear, it graces the wrist in a wonderful way the top stays on top. The front of this bracelet measures 30 mm north to south and 80 mm across the top. This bracelet is unmarked but tests as sterling silver, it weighs 34.2 grams.
