Antique Silver Bloodstone and Carnelian Lion Fob Hallmarked Birmingham 1890

Oh, the mighty lion, a symbol of power, courage, and prestige. It’s been used in England for centuries by royalty and nobility. Medieval warriors with great skill who were known for their bravery were nicknamed, “The Lion”, hence the name of Richard the Lionheart.  This symbol is found throughout England, on shields, in heraldry, with sports teams, and as door knockers. It’s a sign of valor and determination.

This antique silver lion watch fob was handcrafted in Birmingham, England, in 1890. It features a lion passant on top of a round flat-cut bloodstone and carnelian set in silver. This fob measures 40.6 x 22.7 mm and it weighs 8.1 grams. This pendant has been fully hallmarked. It bears the anchor mark for Birmingham, the date letter, “q”, the lion mark, and a maker’s mark that reads, “P&T”.

Loop this fob onto a chain like a pendant or wear it around the wrist for a chunky statement piece. Either way this tiny yet powerful symbol of victory will be with you whenever you need it.
