For a man of small stature, he made a big presence, had big ambitions. Big enough that even though I've yet to mention his name, you already know it, don't you?
The familiar profile, the iconic bicorne hat, the characteristic cut of the collar bring his name instantly to mind. Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France, ruler, invader, husband of Josephine. Here he is cast in silver in his familiar profile surrounded by olive branches. On the reverse is an eagle holding an oak branch done with a bit of Art Nouveau flair. The pendant is marked on the bale, but to be honest I can't totally make out the marks as they are a bit worn, it’s almost certainly French.
The front bears the signature of the artist, Edmond Henri-Becker, a noted French engraver. Made around 1900-1910. It measures 18.4 mm from top to bottom including the bale and 14.8 mm in diameter, it weighs 2.1 grams. I have acid tested it to verify the silver content.
