Antique Victorian 15k Gold Spinner Fob with Days of the Week Seals

How cool is this? A fob that’s also a rotating seal with the days of the week engraved into each side. I had never seen such a thing and so of course I just had to have it. You know I can’t resist the truly rare and unusual (I don’t really try!).

Beautifully hand crafted in 15 karat gold, this spinner fob has 8 sides, 7 of the the are the days of the week and the 8th says H. Campion, no doubt the name of the person that this fob was originally made for. Who was this H? Henry, Harold, Howard? Why did he need the days of the week on a fob? I guess we’ll never know, but it doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the wit and whimsy of this wonderful spinner! The fob measures 29.2 mm long from the top of the bale and 18.4 mm across at the widest point, it’s 8.1 mm the short way and weighs 4.6 grams. This piece is unmarked but has been acid tested to verify the gold content. Made in England around 1890-1900.
