Antique Victorian Blue Enamel 'Order of the Garter' Locket in 18k Gold, Inscribed 1869

Talk about alluring! This piece is truly one of pride and it’s tempting me to keep it. The front motif is symbolic of the ‘Order of the Garter’, the oldest British Order of Chivalry. How gentlemanly, indeed. This locket is debonair at its finest and ornamented with a sense of suave elegance.

Handcrafted in England around 1869. A blue enameled garter decorates the front. Inside is a frame with glass and a photograph of a gentleman. The main body of the this locket is made in 18 karat gold, 15 karat gold makes up the eyelet and jumper, most likely a replacement for one that became worn through. It contains an inscription, inside the front door, which reads, ‘EB 1869’. This is a weighty piece, totaling 10.3 grams. It measures 31.2 x 24.6 x 8.8 mm.

It’s a handsome and weighty piece, fit for a man or a woman, with timelessness and history.
