Antique Victorian Crystal Silver Locket c. 1880

She had been wearing it since her 16th birthday, when her mother gave it to her. It went with her to balls, where well-dressed ladies came out. It went with her to writing lessons, to long walks on the edge of the forest, and to her trip to Spain. It stayed around her neck on her wedding day, when she said, “I do” to the man of her dreams, with her beautiful mother seated in the front row.  They both  smiled, just as they had done on her 16th birthday, as they were full of happiness, and contentment. They looked forward to a future full of even more blissful memories, to be remembered in photographs or portrait miniatures, tucked inside this locket.

This antique Victorian crystal and silver locket was handcrafted in England around 1880. The front holds a large oval cabochon cut crystal that measures 25.5 x 21.7 x 7.1 mm. The crystal is framed in a rope motif, giving this locket a beautiful nautical touch. When opened, it reveals one frame, ideal for a precious photograph. The overall measurements of this locket are 42.5 x 25.2 x 13 mm and it weighs 13.6 grams. This piece is unmarked and has been acid tested.

This is a simple and charming locket meant for all the best occasions!
