She wore them with her hair up, in jeans and a white tank top. The sky turned blueish-gray with rain as she walked around her small apartment lighting the candles that lined her window sills. She sank into her couch, next to him, the one who had given her these jet black earrings. They were darker than her raven eyes, which was a tough thing to accomplish. She liked how light they felt in her ears, and how they went with her favorite outfits. She grabbed her book and read by the candlelight.
These antique Victorian French jet earrings were handcrafted around 1880 in France. Each earring features a round en cabochon French-jet, silky smooth and black as night. French jet is black glass with a special matte finish, it was made to simulate jet, which was prevalent in England at the time and worn during the mourning period. They measure 16.5 x 11.3 mm each and together they weigh 3 grams. They bear the eagle head mark meaning they are set in 18 karat gold and assayed in Paris.
I love these perfectly round earrings, they’re like a little black dress for your ears!
