Antique Victorian Gold Enamel Daffodil Locket

As I sit here by the fire writing about the jewels I’ve collected on my latest travels I’m reminded that just a few weeks ago I was in England gazing at roadsides and parks covered in fields of blooming daffodils. Now I am staring out the window at a snow squall, watching it blow and swirl around my home, turning my great room into a reverse snow globe. Wisconsin never has had an easy relationship with Spring, I’ve seen snow in June.
All the more reason to wear a locket like this one. A cheery daffodil plant in bloom against a blue sky, a little bit of permanent Spring, a symbol of the hope, the renewal and the promise of a lush summer to come.
This wonderful 10 karat gold locket is beautifully hand made with lovely engraving and a hand painted enamel front. The locket opens to reveal two frame, one has hair behind glass which we’d be happy to remove upon request. The locket measures 39 mm north to south including the bale and 23.5 mm across at the widest point, it’s 7 mm thick. This beautiful locket is unmarked and tests as 10 karat gold, it weighs 8 grams and was most likely made in America in about 1900.
A note from Victoria: As with any lockets, particular care should be taken when closing enamel lockets, always shut the locket by pushing on the metal edge, never put pressure on the enamel itself.
