Antique Victorian Heart and Singing Birds Brooch Pin, Hallmarked 1891

I think I found your brooch. It was lying on the windowsill in my London hotel room. I spotted it though the flowing white and blue curtains as the breeze brushed by my skin. It was next to my warm and frothy vanilla latte with a tiny chocolate truffle on the side.

This wonderful and large Victorian heart pin was handcrafted in Birmingham, England in 1891. The face of this pin shows two birds singing to each other amongst the branches of a flowering cherry tree. It is fully hallmarked with a lion passant, an anchor, and the letter ‘r’. The Maker's Mark reads, 'S.BROs' which stands for the Sydenham Brothers. This perfect pin measures 39.3 x 34.2 x 8.5 mm and weighs 5.3 grams.
