Antique Victorian Sapphire Diamond Ring 14k Gold

$ 2,250.00

I met my dealer friend Julia at the bakery across the street just before the market opened for a snack and chat. It was a fresh, cool, lovely English spring morning, nice enough to sit outside, as long as you wrapped your hands tightly around a steaming hot Latte. The fog was burning off and sun coming out while we sat under the little awning talking shop as the electric heater boxes gave off a warm orange glow. We had flaky, buttery chocolate croissants still warm and melty from the oven, oh my. Julia was wearing this ring on the upper part of her ring finger, one of some dozen or so rings she had on in total. I commented that I liked the shape. It left the cafe in my pocket.

This navette shaped sapphire and diamond ring was hand crafted around 1900. It is set with four bright and lively blue sapphires which are cushion cut and weigh about 0.30 carats each for 1.2 carats in total. The sapphires are surrounded by winking diamonds, 7 in total of about 0.03 carats each, 0.21 carats in total. The ring measures 16.6 mm north to south and 10.2 mm across, it sits 4 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.4 mm wide at the back of the band. This ring is marked with ‘14k’ for 14 karat gold, it might be American, or European, I purchased it London. This size 7.25 ring weighs 2.7 grams.
