Antique Victorian Signet Ring Carved Agate

A good signet ring is made by a craftsman who believes in quality, made by hand, with a coat of arms intricately engraved on the face, like this beautiful vintage sardonyx piece. They’re meant to be passed down as an heirloom. A regal ring with a shield motif symbolizing strength, courage, and persistence, is a perfect example of excellent craftsmanship and style.

This gold signet ring was handcrafted in Birmingham, England in 1855. It features a carved shield motif in a black and white sardonyx, set in 9 karat gold. The shoulders are engraved with an elegant floral design. The oval sardonyx measures 9.2 x 7 x 2.5 mm. The ring is a size 7 and weighs 1.7 grams. The ring face measures 9.7 x 16 and sits 5.2 mm off the finger. It is fully hallmarked and bears the date letter, ‘G’, the gold purity content marks, ‘9’, and ‘.375’, and the origin mark of an anchor. The maker’s mark reads, ‘CB’.

This ring would look handsome on the finger of a gentlemen but it would also look quite fabulous hanging from your favorite gold chain and clasped around your neck.
