Antique Victorian Silver Collar and Locket Set, Birmingham 1876

In Victorian times, silver collars and lockets, bangles and brooches were de rigor for day-time wear. This one is a superb example of the former. An intricate collar in wonderful condition with a matching locket with fine detailed work with engraving and repoussé work.

This necklace can be worn in a variety of ways, wear it all-together for a more formal look, wear the collar alone for a more modern look, or wear the locket alone on a heavy silver linked chain or a simple black cord. Hallmarked with the English marks showing that it was made in Birmingham in 1876. The collar is 18" long and the locket measures 2.5 inches long including the bale and just over 1 1/8 inches wide. The necklace all together weighs 43 grams.

These nicer Victorian collar and locket sets are getting quite expensive and hard to find, so I was thrilled to find this one with a matching collar and locket.
