Antique Victorian Turquoise Cluster Ring in 18k Gold

There is something earthy about turquoise, it’s an unpretentious gem. It can get all dressed up in a halo of diamonds if it wants to, or it can dress down with a cluster of it’s own kind. Either way, it’s always got a cheery demeanor and a go-with-anything attitude.

This wonderful early turquoise cluster was hand crafted in 18 karat gold in the Victorian era. It is set with a 4x3.5mm cabochon turquoise center and a halo of 8 smaller 2.3 mm turquoise gems. I suspect that the brighter three gems may be replacements, turquoise often ages to a greenish color over time. The setting is very lovely, with richly engraved shoulders, it was made with a locket back. The ring is a size 4.75 US and would be somewhat difficult to re-size, it could probably go a size or so either way. The ring weighs 2.4 grams. The ring measures 9.8 mm north to south and 8.8 mm across. This ring is unmarked, it acid tests as 18k gold.
