Art Deco 18k White Gold Engraved Wedding Band Ring

It’s a ring of sleek white gold and elegant craftsmanship, with a rumor of a duke and a duchess. What rumor? Oh, that rumor. I doubt it’s true. He loved her since childhood, and this was the secret engagement band. The other story says it rested on the finger of a princess for a while before making its way to London where it vanished, or she tossed it after a quarrel. When was it found? A few years ago. Found by a jazz singer whose name sounded faintly familiar. That’s all I’ve heard, I think. But you know what they say about rumors. You don’t? They stem from truth. Then again, that’s also a rumor.

This vintage gold band was handcrafted in Birmingham, England in 1930. This ring is a simple 18 karat white gold band with beautiful engraving that encircles the entire ring. It’s a size 6 and weighs 2.7 grams. The ring face measures 2 mm in height and 1.7 mm off the finger. It has been fully hallmarked and bears the crown mark for England, the gold purity mark, “18”, the anchor mark for Birmingham, and the date letter, “F”. It also bears a maker’s mark that reads, “H.S”.

As a matter of fact, I can tell you this band is one of the beautiful ones, looking wicked on the hand like a little black dress for the finger. Enjoy the gift of giving this year, especially if it’s for yourself.
