Art Deco Garnet Onyx Marcasite Cocktail Ring Silver Gold

I always keep an extra eye out for lovely silver and marcasite jewelry. There was a fantastic surge of these pieces made in the 1920s, and while they are still being made today, the ones made in the 20s have a hand crafted quality and feel that the newer ones are lacking. Here is the perfect example of a fantastic piece from the 20s, with screaming Art Deco style.

Completely handcrafted in silver and 9 karat gold, this beautiful ring features a cabochon cut half sphere of garnet and two wonderfully cut squares of black onyx surrounded by sparkling marcasite gems. The face of the ring measures 17.5 mm across and 25 mm north to south, it is 1.5 mm wide at the back of the band. This ring is just shy of a size 8 US and could be re-sized to suit. It weighs 5.2 grams.

This is a truly lovely example of hand crafted early marcasite jewelry, symbolic of the burgeoning middle class of the early decades of the 20th Century.
