Art Nouveau French Diamond Bypass Ring Cat Tail Motif

Oh, those wonderful French Art Nouveau artists really knew how to make beautiful things. Take this stunning ring as a case in point. Set with two beautiful and super sparkly old European cut diamonds that play point-counterpoint with the light, this ring has fantastic swirling cat tails and leaves on either shoulder, the centers still have that wonderful bloomed finish that the French were so famous for and the outer edges have been worn velvety smooth by use and time. Yes, the French understood elegance and natural motifs and adorned themselves in bright diamonds and luxurious gold.

This lovely take on a ‘toi et moi’ (you and me) diamond and gold ring was handcrafted around 1900-1910, most likely in France, which is where I purchased it. It was made in 18 karat gold with swirling shoulders supporting two vertically set old European diamonds on a size 8.5 US band. Each of the diamonds are round cut, and their total combined weight is approximately .3 carats. The ring face measures 7.5 x 4 x 4 mm off the finger and the band width is 1.3 mm at the back. This ring weighs 3.5 grams and has been acid tested. This ring is marked '18' for 18 karat gold.

This antique masterpiece would make a breathtaking engagement ring with sparkle that never ends.
