Austro Hungarian Emerald Pearl Earrings Silver Gilt

Renaissance Revival jewelry was en vogue during the 1800s all across Europe. Austria-Hungary established itself as a maker of quality jewelry during this time, as the pieces were not only detailed and beautiful on the front, but oftentimes equally detailed and ornate on the back. Workshops in Austria-Hungary crafted the majority of these Renaissance and Gothic Revival pieces between 1860 and 1910. Oftentimes, these pieces were made in silver and then gilded in gold. These beryl and pearl earrings are no exception as they were made around 1880 in Austria-Hungary, during the Victorian Era in silver gilt.

These Austro-Hungarian beauties are set with green beryl, which is basically low quality emerald and pearls. Each earring contains four rectangular emerald cut beryls and eight pearls set in gilded silver. The earrings measure 50 mm long and 23 mm wide at the widest point and they weigh 13.4 grams together. These earrings are unmarked and have been acid tested to determine the metal.

Wear these emerald earrings with whatever your heart desires as they will go with blue jeans as easily as evening gowns! These perfect examples of Revival jewelry belong on your ears, not just in your jewelry box.
