Her father brought it back from a trip to London, it wasn’t her birthday or Christmas or anything, he just told her that he’d seen it in a jewelry store window and he’d thought of her. He knew period of mourning for her first husband was almost up and knew that she’d soon be able to wear purple and white, and he knew that she’d been looking forward to it, as sort of a moving on. He had always been like that, just when she thought he didn’t notice he’d surprise her with something so thoughtful and lovely. Even years later, after her parents were long gone, she’d look at this ring and remember that her Daddy loved her.

Antique Amethyst and pearl ring, hand crafted in Victoria’s England in about 1840. The center stone is collet set and foil backed (care should be taken to keep it dry). The center stone is surrounded by a halo of creamy white pearls and the shoulders are further set with amethysts and pearls. This ring is a size 8.5 and measures 10.8 mm across the face, it sits 4.6 mm off the finger and narrows to 3.8 mm at the back of the band. This ring is not marked but we’ve acid tested it and verified it as 15 karat gold, it weighs 3.0 grams.
