Early Victorian Citrine Gold Ring Foil Backed

He knew the moment he saw it that it would be perfect for her; it was sunny, like her disposition. Surely, it had a story, he didn’t know it, but he was sure she’d be able to tell it. She loved old things and was forever imagining their histories, she said they were little windows back in time. He loved her for this, and so much more.

This fantastic hand crafted early Victorian ring is set with an oval faceted citrine of a rich, sunflower yellow. The stone is a bit abraded from age and wear, this ring was probably made around 1850 and its age does show a bit on it’s face. I was more than happy to forgive it this flaw, as it’s generally in very good condition, the foil backed stone has that extra glow. The ring is a size 6.5 and while it’s unmarked it tests as 9 karat gold. The ring measures 11 mm north to south at the face and tapers to 2 mm wide at the back of the band, it sits 4.1 mm off the finger and weighs 2 grams. The citrine measures 7.5x5.1 mm.

A note from Victoria: This ring is foil backed, it’s fine for regular wear, but care should be taken to keep it dry. Put it in a pocket when washing your hands. If the foil gets wet it can rust and cause discoloration.
