Early Victorian Garnet and Hair Heart Padlock Pendant, Engraved in 15k Gold

They met in spring, as the green began to pop and brighten landscapes. She was at a record store, searching for nothing in particular. He was doing the same, and had to ask for her name. The days grew longer as their dates did too. Summer was filled with milkshakes, laughter, and trips to the lake. He wanted to show her that his feelings weren’t going be swept away by autumn, like the heat of the summer sun. Before winter came and covered the valleys in snow and holiday cheer, he gave her something to show her he was all in – a timeless symbol of his heart.

This Early Victorian Garnet and hair heart shaped lock pendant was handcrafted around 1840 in England; it was made in 15 karat gold and is engraved with graceful floral design. The center of this piece features a rich and juicy cabochon cut garnet that measures 9.5 x 8.2 mm. The back of this lock reveals a plat of hair under beveled crystal, most likely placed there by the original owner. This piece measures 28.6 x 18 x 10 mm and weighs in at 4.5 grams. It is unmarked and has been professionally acid tested.

This is a charming little heart with gorgeous details on every side. It would work equally well as a pendant, a clasp or for hanging off of a bracelet.
