Edwardian Carnelian Fob Seal Pendant Lion 'U2'

I really do adore these old fobs. I get to research crests and family surnames for hours, trying to figure out who it belongs to and why. The history buff in me can’t get enough! This fabulous little Victorian fob pendant was handcrafted around 1910 in England. The front is engraved with the wording, ‘U2’.

The red carnelian features a lion’s head and the phrase, “FIRMO NODO” which means “In A Firm Knot”. This lion motif belongs to the Harington-Stuart family crest. It was created in 1611 with Sir Richard Harington, in Ridlington, Rutland, in England. This fob is unmarked and has been acid tested, it’s crafted in 15 karat gold. This piece measures 22 x 12 x 12 mm and weighs 3.1 grams.

This gold fob would be perfect in your jewelry box!
