Edwardian Diamond Bypass Engagement Ring

He held out his hand to pull her up out of the lake where she’d gone for a morning swim and she noticed a flash in the sunlight. She wondered but said nothing as he wrapped her a big fluffy towel warmed by the sun. When he went down on one knee, she thought he was simply reaching for the cup of coffee he’d set on the dock, but instead he slipped the ring off of his finger and onto hers. He didn’t say a word, but his eyes said ‘will you?’, her grin was all the yes he needed in reply.

This wonderful diamond bypass ring has such a romantic feel, the greek key motif in the center locks together two diamonds in an eternal embrace. The two diamonds are Old European cut round faceted stones which weigh approximately .15 carats each for a total weight of .3 carats. The stones are set into a rich but simple band of 14 karat buttery yellow gold and the ring is marked with ‘585’ to indicate the gold content. This ring measures 12.7 mm north to south at the widest point and is a 7.5 US in size, but could easily be re-sized to suit. The ring is inscribed with a name and date, but it was too faded by age for us to make out what it says. This ring is European in origin and likely dates to about 1900-1910, it weighs 2.2 grams.
