Edwardian Enamel Butterfly Brooch Pin Silver John Atkins & Sons

This fluttery Butterfly is so full of color and life that I almost want to follow it along to see where it will land. Perhaps on a flower? Perhaps on your coat? Take it along and see for yourself.

The English firm of John Atkins and Sons was well known for their beautiful enamel work and they were especially known for fabulous butterflies like this one. This lovely lady is enamel over sterling silver and has a wonderful play of color. It’s a larger one, measuring 45 mm north to south and 64.8 mm across. It weighs 19 grams and is marked to the reverse with ‘Sterling Silver’ and the makers mark ‘JA & S’. Made in England around 1915-1920.
