It’s the ancient Greeks who named this stone, after the ethereal silver light of the moon. Both cultures associated it with their lunar deities. I won’t argue, as I also think this gemstone is heavenly.
This fantastic antique ring is set with a circle of six glowing cabochon moonstones along with a seventh at its center. The outer stones are all about 5 x 2.6 mm and the center is 5.4 x 4.25 mm, the total carat weight in this ring is 3.71 carats. The ring measures 17 mm north to south and 16 mm across, the ring sits 3 mm off the finger. The ring is marked ‘9ct’ for 9 karat gold and it has a slightly rosy hue. Made in England in about 1900, this wonderful ring is a size 7.5 and weighs 3.2 grams.
