Edwardian Opal Diamond Ring Hallmarked 1905

She ordered a double espresso at Café Thijsseen off the Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam. As she reached for her warm caffeine fix, her hand showed a ring adorned in opals and diamonds. It was a simple transaction between barista and woman. And yet, the sparkle on her finger laid a mystery. Where did it come from? Why did she wear it today? She walked off into her day before questions could be asked or answers uncovered, entirely and blissfully unaware of her audience.

This opal and diamond Edwardian gold ring was handcrafted in Birmingham, England, in 1905. It is a size 7.5 and was made in 18 karat gold. It holds three en cabochon precious opals and four Old European cut diamonds. The larger center opal measures 4.5 x 3.9 x 2.4 mm and the diamonds measure approximately 1.5 mm in diameter. The ring face measures 6.1 x 15.8 x 4.1 mm off the finger and the band width is 2 mm at the back. This elegant piece is hallmarked and bears the gold purity mark, “18”, the anchor for Birmingham, the date letter, “f” for 1905, and a maker’s mark that reads, “NB”.

Let this Edwardian stunner give you the moment you deserve. It’s striking and pretty and belongs around your finger.
