Edwardian Sapphire Diamond Gold Ring

In a pretty city carriage with berry pink seats and a Clydesdale horse with chestnut fur the sky turned to twilight and the two of you sat huddled, side by side in the chilled air. Of course, neither of you paid the least bit of attention to the temperature, because an hour ago, he asked for your hand and gifted you a ring with sparkling diamonds and glowing sapphires. You said nothing at first, your jaw just dropped and your white gloved hands flew up to cover it. Then you laughed and giggled, “Yes” and he smiled wide and his eyes were happier than you’d ever seen them.

This extraordinary antique sapphire and diamond ring was hand crafted in England in about 1910. It was made in 18 karat gold. The center oval cut sapphire measures approximately .4 carats, the two outer sapphires weight about .5 carats in total, each sapphire stone is clean and clear with a blue velvet color. White round Old European cut diamonds, four in all, pattern the sapphire stones. This piece is marked with ‘18ct’ inside the band, meaning a gold purity content of 18 karats. The maker’s mark reads, ‘F.B.L’. This ring is a lovely size 8 and weighs 4.7 grams.

It’s a masterpiece for her finger! Wonderful as an engagement ring, excellent as an anniversary present, and charming as a birthday surprise.
