Fabulous Modernist Sterling Silver Ring by Ottaviani, Nude Woman

The form of the goddess has been used in jewelry for millennia. Venus, Goddess, Mother. The oldest ceramics found on Earth date back to as early as 25,000 BCE and depict the figure of a voluptuous woman. The earliest necklaces were carved goddess worn on leather cords. This curvy beauty is a lot more recent, but I couldn’t resist her timeless appeal. She bears only a modest fig leaf and carries baskets on her head.

Hand crafted in Italy in about 1960-70, this vintage ring was made by the designer Ottaviani and is signed. It’s quite large and measures 32.4 mm north to south and 23.1 mm across. The ring fits a size 7 finger and can be adjusted somewhat, it’s really comfortable on, although you definitely know that you’re wearing it! The ring weighs 19.1 grams and is made of sterling silver, it’s further marked ’925’ and ‘B MC’.
