Flowing Art Nouveau Silver French Pocket Knife

Oh the simplicity of a pocket knife, that daily tool I forget I have as I’m in line at the airport. Just this morning I used this one for opening letters. They’re a useful little trinket, for cutting string, or cutting those plastic tags off a new dress. On occasion I go a little crazy and use mine for maneuvering those pesky clamshell packages. Of course, an Art Nouveau piece like this is also quite the fashion statement when your friend asks if anyone has any scissors, so she can cut the loose thread on her jeans, and you pull this out.

This unique, antique Art Nouveau pocket knife was handcrafted in France around 1890. It was made in silver and features a floral design. It contains four tools – two blades, a pair of scissors, and a nail file/cleaner. One of the blades measures 1 3/4 inches and the second blade measures 1 1/16 inches. The nail file is 1 7/8 inches long. This pocket knife is marked, “Metaux” and “Divers”, and also contains a French maker’s mark. This piece has been acid tested. It weighs 40.5 grams, and when fully closed it measures 75 x 15.7 x 9 mm.

For life’s little challenges, carry around this beautiful bauble, put it on your key chain or wear it on a lovely link around your neck. I promise you’ll find yourself using it on the daily and wonder how you ever functioned without it.
