The didn’t have the internet when this chain was made, didn’t have computers or faxes or phones to order gold, didn’t have FedEx or UPS to deliver it. They had to make the materials they had go far, and in this case they made an ounce of gold go just shy of 5 feet.
This hallow curb link chain was made completely by hand, it must’ve taken a master jeweler hours and hours to complete. It was made in France in about 1890, as a watch chain to hold a ladies pocket watch. This gorgeous chain has no clasp, it wasn’t made with one, but we can certainly put one in if you’d like. The jump ring is marked with the French eagles head mark which is the assay mark for a minimum fineness of 18 karat gold. The chain is 59.5 inches long and weighs 31.6 grams.
Light and luxurious and soft as satin, this chain can be wrapped one, twice or even thrice, wear it down the back of an open backed dress for even more sexy appeal.
