This lucky lady is the epitome of an Art Nouveau beauty. She is gorgeously accessorized with a sparkling head band of diamonds and a fabulous diamond choker. Not only does she have beauty and diamonds, but she hovers over a four leaf clover and basks in the light of a lucky star!
Art Nouveau 18 karat slide locket. Bigger than most, and set with an array of 15 bright and lively rose cut diamonds. The locket measures an impressive 1.5 inches across and is 1.75 inches long with the bale. It tests as 18 karat gold, but bears no marks. It was most certainly made around 1890, I purchased it in France, and I suspect that it is French in origin. It weighs 10.6 grams.

The most famous flea market in Paris is the one at Porte de Clignancourt. I go to Les Puces (the fleas) every time I set foot in that old town, even if just for a stroll. Last time I found this antique 18 karat gold Virgin Mary pendant. It has the words 'Virgo Virginum" meaning 'Virgin of Virgins' around a right-sided profile of Mary with a halo. The backside has a capital 'M' resting on a cloud as if in heaven. Two beautiful lily flowers frame the profile of the Virgin Mary and form the heart-shaped pendant. I fell hard for the gorgeous Art Nouveau styling of this fantastic pendant!
This antique pendant was handcrafted around 1910, perhaps in France although it bears no marks. We've carefully acid tested it to verify that it is made of 18 karat gold. It measures one inch (25.4 mm) from N to S, 13/16" from E to W (20.6 mm), is 1.8 mm thick, and weighs 5 grams.

Your grandmother wore one. And so did her mother. Now it's your turn. This beautiful antique 18 karat gold locket was handcrafted in the Victorian era, most likely in England. Oval is the perfect shape for a locket because it is the shape of the faces you will store and cherish within. Gold and pearls are a complimentary material for a locket because both glow softly against your skin. On the front are three pearls point set into an ivy leaf shape. Often the sentiment behind this is 'I cling to thee', where you and your loved ones were intertwined and hard to separate.
Well then, I guess this is just the perfect locket. Ready and waiting to hold photos of your loved ones. Beautifully hand crafted and adorned, this lockets simplicity is not to be overlooked. It is in great condition, the back is soft and smooth to the touch, the flush mounted hinge is in good shape, it opens easily and closes securely with a nice little snap. Two frames are inside, currently there are clear plastic inserts. There are no markings but tests as 18 karat gold. English in style made right around 1880, this locket weighs 13.4 grams.
Dimension are 35.3 mm from N to S (not including the bale), 27.3 mm from E to W, and it is 5.5 mm thick.
Banking is a relatively new idea. Before the 19th century most people wore their wealth. The original idea of the chain, for example, was that you could pay for something by taking a link off of your chain, be it gold or silver. Precious metal has always equalled money, it was a good idea then and it remains a good idea today. Now, I wouldn't recommend paying for your Moët with a link off of this gorgeous French chain, but I suppose you could if you had to!
Honestly, everyone really needs to own one of these long gold chains. Preferable two or three, if you can swing it, but if you're limited to one, this one is a particularly good place to start. Intricate, glowing links with the feel of soft silk that only old gold seems to achieve. This chain is completely hand made of large fancy links with a round links between teardrop links framed with intermittent small plain links. Each link is individually hand soldered and the chain has a matching large round spring ring clasp which attaches to both ends and would originally have been used to hang a watch. The chain is 50 inches long and tests as 18 karat gold. This chain was likely made around 1900. The chain weighs 46.9 grams.
These chains are getting harder and harder to come by as many were broken up into several shorter lengths over time. It's always a treat when I find an original old long guard like this one!
Up until the 18th century, the Amethyst was considered to be amongst the cardinal gems, along side diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald. For a time it's wear was reserved only for royalty and the rich purple color has long been associated with nobility. This fantastic pendant boasts a rich purple stone with a deep velvety feel, it makes you understand why Royalty used to claim this most regal of stone all to itself!
Hand crafted in 9 karat gold with a 15 karat bale, this lovely pendant would have taken a skilled jeweler quite a while to make, the gorgeous scalloped frame and beautifully matched and set pearls are simply inspired. The pendant is set with 42 creamy half pearls with a pinkish undertone in the nacre. The amethyst is an oval faceted cut which measures 15.5 mm x 11 mm x 9 mm deep and weighs approximately 8.13 carats. Overall the pendant is 33 mm long including the bale, 21 mm wide at the widest point and 9 mm deep and weighs 4.3 grams. It is not hallmarked but has been carefully acid tested to verify content.
This is a fantastically regal pendant which would look equally wonderful on a chain or simple black cord and could be worn with anything from blue-jeans to ball-gowns!
