Martin Mayer Jungendstil Silver Slide Locket Poppies

On their first date he took her to Longwood Gardens in the gorgeous Brandywine Valley. It was winter and she wondered at his idea to go to a garden in the cold; but when she walked into the immense Victorian Conservatory she was awestruck by the beauty of the building and the slice of summertime held within. She loved all the flowers and trees, the cacti and orchids but she became completely enamored of the blue poppies that grew along the edges of the walkways under the grand glass roof.

This fantastic silver slide locket by the famed Martin Mayer features a wonderful design of poppy flowers which flows around onto both sides of the locket. The poppies are so realistic, they seem to jump off the locket. Set with two mirrors, this Jungendstil locket was hand crafted around 1900-1910 in Germany, it is marked on the bale. The locket is 61 mm from top to bottom and 36 mm across and weighs 15.5 grams. It is marked for 800 silver.
