Silver Moonstone Antique Arts and Crafts Necklace

Moonstone in French is ‘Pierre de lune’, and I can’t help thinking of it this way in my mind whenever I find a lovely piece like this one while wondering the markets of England or France. Inside my head I usually say it with a whisper of a sigh… ahhh… pierre de lune.

This silver necklace was hand crafted durning the Arts and Crafts era and has wonderfully bright blue moonstone gems set in sterling silver. The large cabochon oval top stone measures 12.4x9.8x5.3 mm and has 3 smaller, round stones hanging from it, 4.7x4.7x2.7 mm each, the total carat weight in moonstone is about 5.7 carats. The silver necklace is 16 inches long and weighs 3.7 grams. The drop measures 42.3 mm north to south and 12.7 mm across.

Made in England in about 1900, this wonderful silver necklace would look fantastic with everything from loungewear to Louboutins.
