Sterling Silver and Banded Agate Cricket Fob Pendant (Sport)

     "I don’t like cricket, I love it!"

Okay, so maybe you’re not familiar with Dreadlock Holiday, but if you’re a cricket fan, you’ve likely heard the mantra a time or two. So, are you? Are you a fan of this game from which we derived the American game of baseball; a game which dates back at least as far as the 16th Century? If you are, or you are looking for a gift for the cricket lover in your life, I have just the thing!

This wonderful sterling silver and banded agate fob was handcrafted in Victorian England, when the English love of Cricket was at an all time high. In fact, it was made in Birmingham, England, in 1892, as is attested to by its set of English hallmarks. The fob would make a fantastic pendant, especially if hung on a Victorian watch chain (I have a few of those around here somewhere…). It is a perfect medium size, measuring 33.5 mm high and 18.2 mm x 14.7 mm across the face of the agate. The top of the fob shows a wicket with two bats and two balls. The oval of banded agate is uncarved. The fob weighs 5.8 grams.
