Stunning Victorian Paste Silver Star Brooch

In Victorian times, paste was more than a fashion statement; it was a matter of security as well. Women were known to have entire diamond suites of jewels replicated in silver and paste in order to be safer when going out in public, if they were robbed, at least they weren’t loosing a priceless heirloom. A gem like this one may well have been made as an exact copy of the real thing, and it’s so amazingly sparkly that no one would have ever known!

This stunning paste version of the iconic Victorian star brooch has sparkles in spades! It was hand crafted around 1880, most likely in England. This star is set with 55 round faceted paste gems which are old cut in fashion. The sparkling star is done all in silver and is marked on the back with ‘925’, the brooch is quite large, it measures 43.9 mm north to south and 44.3 mm across, it has a brass pin stem and a C catch. It’s a beautifully made piece which weighs 18 grams.

If you’re looking for a fabulous star brooch at a fraction of the price of diamonds, here is your chance. Rock this baby with just about anything, they won’t know it’s not precious gems and I promise not to tell!
