Swedish 1920 Faceted French Jet Necklace Silver Gilt

I’m not one for fancy hotels, I prefer an upscale AirBnb, but I do like to swing by the Hemingway Bar at the Ritz when I’m in Paris, or stop into the Savoy in London for a drink after the theatre. If you don’t mind paying silly money for the experience, you can get a pretty great cocktail to go along with it. I only mention it because a necklace like this will take you a long way in a place like the Ritz. You’ll want to look good. But not too good. Posers will drip in diamonds, spoiled brats will show up in pajamas. I recommend a black jumpsuit with a little structure or a little black dress, a wrap against the air conditioning and this necklace. It says that you know what you’re doing, that you comfortable wherever you are, that you’re just as at home here as you’d be at Pat O’Brien’s having a Hurricane (you could rock it there with a tank top and some flip-flops, see where I’m going here?).

This fabulous necklace was made in Sweden in 1920, it’s set with a suite of large, chunky, faceted French Jet (a form of black glass) panels. It has a modern look even though it’s 100 years old! This beauty is 15.5 inches long and the largest of the panels measures 31.5 x 23 mm for reference. This necklace has all kinds of hallmarks, one for ‘I. Sundstrom’, the maker, and for Sweden, 1920 and silver, it weighs 29.1 grams.
