Unusual Victorian Cricket Award Locket in 9k Rose Gold

A wicket, a ball, and a bat are engraved on the front of this most unusual 9 karat rose gold locket. On the back it is inscribed with: "Won by Captain R. M Mackay. Glasgow 1888". Must have been some game!

Handcrafted in Chester, England, this lovely locket has hallmarks on the front, but they are a bit too rubbed to make out the date code, I assume it was some time close to 1888, as this certainly appears to be a custom made piece. It is marked and tests as 9 karat rose gold. The locket measures just over 1 1/4 inches long and 5/8 of an inch wide. It weighs 4.2 grams.
