Victorian Black Enamel 'In Memory Of' Memorial Band Ring

$ 2,200.00

Every once in a while a piece comes along that I don’t mind owning for a little while. Here is just such a ring, a luxuriously heavy, beautifully detailed work of art, a sentiment, a feeling, a ring that feels right on my finger. So, if you don’t want this ring, this amazing, black velvet beauty of a ring, that’s okay, I’ll be happy to hold onto this one for awhile.

This black enamel ring has the words “In Memory Of’ written in a circle around the band. The top and bottom of which are richly decorated with deep engraving. This is a solid ring, and unlike most other Memorial rings I find, it’s a size that might actually fit! This ring is a size 8.5, but because it’s so wide it fits more like an 8. The ring measures 11.8 mm wide, it’s marked as having been made in London, England in 1876 of 18 karat gold by the maker “JW”. This ring weighs a hefty 10.1 grams.

As a note, this ring does have a little bit of enamel damage, I didn’t notice it when I bought it and I didn’t return it because I loved it enough not to care too much, finding a big, chunky Memorial ring like this is rare and you know what they say about beggars and choosers. The main damage is between the M and E in Memorial, please look carefully at the pictures.
