Garnets range so much in color and clarity that it’s amazing they are all still the same stone. From the soft rose of almandine, to the clover green of the tsavorite variety, to the bright orange of spessartites; and all the reds and maroons in between. This particularly bright red is my own personal favorite when it comes to garnet, it always looks extra amazing when I’m holding a glass of Chateauneuf du Pape in my hand.
This gorgeous Victorian Garnet cluster ring was hand crafted in England in about 1880. It is set with 9 bright red garnets that add up to 1 carat in total weight. The ring measures 9.7 mm north to south and 10 mm across, it sits 3.5 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.4 mm at the back of the band. This size 6.25 ring is crafted in 9 karat gold, it’s unmarked but we’ve acid tested it. The ring weighs 1.3 grams.
