Victorian Diamond Ruby Cluster Heart Ring Hallmarked 1866

The heart, it occurs in nature, in the shape of a leaf, in the necks of swans, in the swirl of opening fern fronds; a dropping flower and a butterfly wing. It’s association with love dates to at least the 1250s, when it appeared in an illustration in a French medieval romance novel.

This heart is a bit later, it was made in 1866 in Birmingham, England. Hand crafted in 15 karat gold with silver settings, this lovely and sentimental ring features an oval ruby of .2 carats within a double ring of rose cut diamonds. The shank has a lovely swirling motif and is fully hallmarked with the anchor, ’15ct’ for 15 karat gold, ‘.625’ also for 15k gold and the letter ‘R’ for 1866. The ring is a size 7.8 US and weighs 1.7 grams. This ring measures 10.1 mm north to south and 9.8 mm across, it sits 3.4 mm off the finger and narrows to 2.3 mm at the back of the band.

A sweet, beautiful and lasting way to tell someone that they have your heart.
