Victorian Era Cabochon Garnet Earrings 15k Gold

These earrings conjure images of upswept hair, burgundy velvet gowns and long tables lit with candlelight, lots and lots of candlelight. The rich, plummy, cabochon garnets glow the color of a good cabernet, the rich golden surrounds create a glowing frame around each gem.

These gorgeous earrings were hand crafted in England in about 1860. The rich red garnets are closed backed and so are hard to get a weight on, but the larger ones measure about 11.4x7.7 mm and the top stones measure about 7.8x5.8 mm. Overall these earrings measure 32 mm from top to bottom and 11.2 mm across at the widest point, they are 7.6 mm deep. These earrings are unmarked but have been acid tested as 15 karat gold, together they weigh 5.8 grams.
