Victorian Garnet Ring Rectangular Faceted in 18k Gold

What was I supposed to do? It was a ring that stood the test of time, glorious in its subtleness and stunning with its details, seen by the keenest of observers. The people who wear this ring are the type who stop and smell the roses, who star gaze, and who attempt to find shapes in the clouds. So I bought this ring, knowing you’d be able to find it here waiting for you.

This breathtaking Victorian garnet and gold ring was handcrafted in England around 1890. A large rectangle cushion cut garnet sites at the center of an engraved bezel setting with engraved shoulders. The garnet is a deep wine red and measures 10.5 x 8.1 x 4.1 mm and weighs 3.54 carats. The ring face measures 14.2 x 11.5 x 5.3 mm off the finger. This ring is a size 6.5 and weighs 5.1 grams. There is a faded inscription on the inside of the band that appears to say “to Helen” but it’s hard to say for sure. There are no other marks and it has been acid tested.

To the casual onlooker, this ring is a stunning work of art, but to the thorough spectator, it’s even more. They’ll notice the engraved shoulders and the details in the garnet’s golden setting.
