As lovers go, they weren’t quite star-crossed, but they were from different worlds, he an English Lord who hid his easy smile behind aristocratic stiffness, she a French governess with laughter in her eyes and a bit of rebel in her soul. His heart tripped whenever she entered the room and when he witnessed her laughing eyes upon him he felt as though he couldn’t go another day without seeing them. He sensed strongly that she knew it, too.

He slipped a golden bangle onto her wrist one day as they wondered the sunny gardens behind the manor house, his sisters children squealing and shouting as they played amongst the hedge rows. She never went a day without wearing it from that day on, she wore it on their wedding day, to the christenings of their five children, she wore it in that same garden, when she walked with that same man, many many years later, their time-gnarled hands intertwined. She left it to her daughter, and to her daughter after that. A line of knots, love knots, binding one generation to the next.

This wonderful love knot bangle was hand crafted in about 1900 of 15 karat gold. Its rich buttery yellow tone casts a golden glow of its own and would best fit a wrist of 6.75 inches or less. The bangle measures 7.5 mm north to south at the front and narrows to 6.8 mm at the back, it sits 4 mm high off the wrist and weighs 11.8 gram.
