Victorian Opal Gold Ring Half Hoop 5 Stone

This is the kind of opal ring I hunt for on every buying trip. The ring that I pop on my finger and pretty much just leave there for the rest of my trip. Opals like these just love to be worn, put your skin behind them and they glow with ethereal galaxies of light, a rainbow of distant stars. They seem to have a life all of their own.

Five glowing, oval, cabochon gems are the star of this show. These rich opals hold all the colors of the rainbow, from blue and green to orange, red and gold. This type of ring is sometimes called a half-hoop and was a very popular Victorian style, this one was likely made in England in about 1890-1900. The ring measures 7.5 mm north to south and 21 mm wide, it sits 5 mm of the finger and narrows to 3.2 mm at the back of the band, it is a size 8 US and weighs 3.8 grams. This beautiful ring is hand crafted in 15 karat gold, it has no hallmarks and has been acid tested to verify gold content.

Yes, this is the exact kind of ring that I look for, five perfectly matched opals in a ring of gold, stack it with other half-hoops or wear it alone, just be sure to wear it.
