Victorian 'Rebecca' Chalcedony Fob Seal Pendant

This antique Victorian fob was handcrafted in England around 1860. The top of the fob showcases an engraved foliate motif with cheeky little bird heads on the sides. The base of the fob features a chalcedony intaglio with the word, “Rebecca” engraved into it. This fob seal measures 25.6 mm in height, 16.6 mm in width, and 14 mm in depth. It weighs 5.2 grams and has been acid tested as 9 karat gold.

Who was Rebecca? She was clearly adored as crafting a custom golden charm in her name would have been an expensive affair done by a wealthy and loving gentleman. I adore these tiny trinkets with their mystery and lore; it’s wearable history, as I like to call it.
