Victorian Ruby and Diamond Ring in 18k Gold, Hallmarked 1879

A real antique ring like this has a life story all its own. It has been held and worn and loved by generations. Made in 1879, I wonder, who was the first woman to wear it? What were her hopes and dreams? Over one hundred and thirty years later are they still the same as ours?

This handcrafted Victorian ring is done in 18 karat gold and is set with a lovely winking rose cut diamond and two bright and lively full cut rubies of a great fuchsia-pink color. It is fully hallmarked with the marks showing that it was made in Birmingham, England, in 1879 of 18 karat gold. The ring is currently a size 6 but could be resized to suit a new wearer. It weighs 1.7 grams. The face of this ring measures 7.7 mm north to south and 16.5 mm across, it tapers to 2 mm at the back of the band.

This lovely ring would make a marvelous wedding band, possibly it's been one before?
