Victorian Silver Bangle Bracelet Bird Motif Sterling Cuff

Victorians were deeply inspired by nature, and they especially loved birds. They represented hope, freedom, and rebirth. Swallows were supposedly the first bird to land on a ship when nearing land. They came to represent a safe return. They were like a Fairy God Mother, guiding loved ones home. They symbolized luck and guidance on the course of life and in travels. When an accessory with a swallow was given as a gift, it depicted love. I like to think that a sailor gave this bracelet to his sweetheart, showing he loved her, and that soon he would return to his home sweet home.

This antique Victorian silver bangle was handcrafted in Birmingham, England, in 1897. It features a bird motif with lovely flowers and perfect leaves. The edges of the design are engraved with charming floral swirls. This bracelet is 4.5 inches in length and weighs 24.1 grams, it would fit a wrist up to 7 inches and is 21.9 mm wide. It is fully hallmarked and bears the anchor and lion passant for Birmingham, and English sterling silver. It also bears the letter year code, ‘x’, for 1897.

Bird motifs never go out of style, this classic bracelet belongs on your wrist, with your favorite top and those perfectly fitted jeans!
