Vintage Amber & Marcasite Ring in Silver, Dutch c. 1920

Amber is a gem that's been used for ornament for many thousands of years. Prized for its fantastic color and unusual warm feel, it is considered a gemstone even though in truth it is really fossilized tree resin.

This amber and marcasite ring was handcrafted in Holland sometime between 1906 and 1953. My best guess would be 1920. It is a size 7 but could easily be resized by a skilled jeweler. It is marked on the inside shank '8308', and outside 'V' in cursive on a striped background (Dutch 1906-1953, import duty mark).  This brilliant, bright, oval faceted amber is surrounded by ten sparkling marcasites, all set in silver.

Orange is vibrant. It's hot, healthy, fruity and engaging. Wear this vintage orange ring to channel its vibrancy!

This vintage ring weighs 3.1 grams. The face is 16.6 mm from N to S and 13.5 mm from E to W. The band is 2.1 mm wide and 1.1 mm thick at the back.
